Meet The Pastor
 

Dr. Futch is a graduate of the New Orleans Baptist Theoligical Seminary with the degrees of Bachelor of Divinity, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Ministries. He also is a graduate of Mercer University with a Bachelor of Arts and Norman College with an Associate of Arts. He was ordained to the ministry by the First Baptist Church in Nashville, Georgia in 1956. Since that time he has

 

served 11 churches as pastor and 6 churches as interim pastor. In his years of ministry, Dr. Futch has worked primarily with the Southern Baptist denomination. He has served two terms as member of the Florida State Board of Missions (executive committee); two terms as Moderator of Baptist associations; three terms as Sunday School Director; two terms as Evangelism Director; and three terms as president of the Baptist Pastors Association. For twelve years he hosted a thirty minute early morning radio program called "The Fisherman". This program featured a gospel message and music five days a week. He organized the Jamaica Baptist Mission, and was it's director for eight years. Jamaica Baptist Mission recruited and sent lay missionaries to Jamaica to lead Vacation Bible Schools and evangelistic crusades. The mission began with 135 participants from America and when it was turned over to the Foreign Mission Board eight years later it had over 550 persons from churches in the United States involved. For three years he was Crusade Director for the Ford Philpot Evangelistic Association. This involved recruiting personnel, setting up the origination, raising the funds, training the counselors, preaching in the area churches in all the denominations, and speaking in the area civic clubs and organizations, and appearing as guest on radio and television. The campaigns were throughout the eastern and western United States. Throughout his ministry, Dr. Futch has been a much sought after preacher in revival, and evangelistic crusades. He is also a noted Bible Conference speaker.

In 1989 he came to River Ranch and began to preach at a gathering of worshipers that were meeting in the Spanish Moss building. In 1990 he and a group of 19 organized the River Ranch Chapel and in 1993 the group which had grown to over 100 moved into the new church building.

Dr. Futch and his wife Grace have four adult children and five grand children. They enjoy golf, fishing, gardening, music and travel.
